Move your Hytale world to a dedicated server

Find your singleplayer world in Saves, copy its universe folder to a dedicated server, set Defaults.World and keep every player's character.

Updated

A Hytale world you play alone runs on a small server inside the game, and is saved in the same layout a dedicated server uses. Moving it to a dedicated server is a matter of copying one folder: universe.

1. Find your world

On Windows, singleplayer worlds are under %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Saves; paste that into the File Explorer address bar. Each world has its own folder, named after it, holding a universe folder with worlds/ and players/ inside.

Close Hytale first, so the world is fully saved.

2. Copy it to the server

  1. Stop the dedicated server.
  2. Rename the server's own universe folder, to keep it as a backup.
  3. Copy your world's universe folder into the server folder, beside config.json.
  4. In config.json, set Defaults.World to the name of the world folder inside universe/worlds/.
  5. Start the server.

If the world used mods, copy its mods folder too, and give players the same mods.

3. What players keep

Each player's character, inventory and position are saved in universe/players/ under their account, so they come along with the world and everyone picks up where they left off.

On HostForge

Upload it instead

On HostForge you upload a ZIP instead of copying files. Zip your world's folder, or only its universe, stop the server and upload it in the Backups tab. HostForge installs the universe, the permission lists and mods it finds beside it, and points the server at the world. Your settings stay the ones in HostForge. A server you ran elsewhere works the same way; a .tar.gz backup from another host is fine too.
