Free beta

Free while HostForge is in beta

Run one persistent Co-op server for up to 8 players at no cost. Beta servers are limited and first come, first served. When paid plans start, beta testers keep their world and a lifetime founder discount.

Start free beta server

A few practical answers.

How does beta access work?

HostForge is in beta, and beta servers are free. Each account can run one Co-op server for up to 8 players with a persistent world. Server capacity is fixed, so beta servers are first come, first served; deleting a server frees its slot for someone else.

What happens when the beta ends?

Your server and world stay as they are. You can subscribe from the server's Subscription tab at any time, and billing only starts when beta access ends. Beta testers get a lifetime founder discount on paid plans. Without a subscription, the server stops when the beta ends and its save stays available to download.

Does HostForge support mods?

Yes. Search the Project Zomboid Workshop from your server's Mods tab and add items with a click. HostForge downloads only the selected mods and writes the server's Workshop and mod settings when it starts.

Do players need to install anything?

Players join with their normal Project Zomboid client. They only need the same mods as the server when a modded world is configured.

Can I bring my existing world?

Yes. Stop the server, open the Server save tab, and upload a ZIP of your Project Zomboid save. Archives from other hosts are remapped so existing characters are recognized. Server settings and mods are configured separately.

Do saves persist?

Yes. Your world and configuration live outside the game container, and HostForge takes a daily backup, keeping the last seven. You can also download the save at any time.

Where are the servers?

In North America, on dedicated hardware in Beauharnois, Quebec, close to Eastern Canada and the US East Coast. Players elsewhere can join, but will see higher ping. More regions open as demand grows.

What can I do in the community directory?

Browse public Project Zomboid worlds by name, status and region, open a server profile, and see live player activity and community highlights before joining.
