Join a Palworld dedicated server by IP address
Join a Palworld dedicated server by IP on Steam, find it from Xbox or PlayStation with crossplay, become admin, and fix version and password errors.
You need the server's address and port, such as 203.0.113.24:8211, and its password if it has one. On Xbox or PlayStation you need its name instead, and the server must be listed in the community servers.
Join by IP on Steam
- In the title screen, choose Join Multiplayer Game.
- In the box at the bottom of the server list, enter the address as
IP:port. - Choose Connect.
- Type the server password if the game asks for it.
- Make a character, or carry on with the one you have there.
Your character lives in the server's world, so it is waiting for you next time, on that server only.
Join on Xbox, PlayStation or Mac
A server takes players from Xbox, PlayStation 5 and Mac when its CrossplayPlatforms setting lists them, which it does by default. Console players can't type an address: they open the community servers and search for the server's name. A server shows up there only when it was started with -publiclobby. Turn crossplay off (CrossplayPlatforms=(Steam)) to keep a server to Steam players.
Become admin
Open the chat and type /AdminPassword, a space and the server's admin password. Admins can then kick and ban with /KickPlayer and /BanPlayer.
If you can't get in
- The game says your version doesn't match
- Update Palworld, then try again. If you're already up to date, the host needs to update the server and restart it.
- Wrong password
- Passwords are case-sensitive; ask the host for the current one.
- The server is full
- The server is at its player limit, at most 32 on any Palworld server.
- You're banned
- Your account is in the server's
banlist.txt; ask an admin to remove you. - Connecting times out
- Check the address and port, and wait a moment if the server just started. On a server you host yourself, check that its UDP game port is open; see setting up a dedicated server.
The address is on the server page
Your server's Overview shows the server name, IP address and port, password and admin password, each with a copy button, and the steps to join. Make the server public in Settings › Access to list it in the community servers for console players. HostForge keeps the server on the current game version, so a version mismatch usually means your game needs updating.
